Hellbreak TCG Cards

Never played a card game? Start here

If you are here because Dracula fighting Jaws sounds great and the words "trading card game" mean nothing to you, this page is yours. No jargon without a definition, no assumption you have ever shuffled a deck of anything.

What a TCG actually is

You buy a deck of cards designed to work together, your opponent brings theirs, and the cards themselves tell you what they do. Hellbreak is for exactly two players. You are a monster. Your deck is your arsenal: minions who fight for you, schemes your monster pulls off, locations that shape the battlefield. You win by wearing the other monster’s health down to zero. A game runs maybe twenty to forty minutes once you know it.

What to buy

The $27 starter set, and nothing else yet. It contains two ready-made decks (Jaws and Dracula), the rules, and everything two people need to play. You do not need booster packs to start. Boosters are how you customize later, and "later" means after you know you like the game.

One timing note before you go looking for it: October 31, 2026 is a launch event. ICv2 reported that the first set reaches stores in January 2027, with the release window pushed to Q1 2027. If a retailer promises you cards for Halloween, read the ship date twice. Source: icv2.com

The one mechanic worth knowing going in

Your monster starts the game Lurking, holding back, and at a moment you choose it flips to Unleashed and becomes the horror-movie version of itself. Choosing that moment is the game’s signature decision, and it maps pretty naturally onto how a monster movie is paced. You will get it wrong the first few games. Everyone does. Our full breakdown of Lurking vs Unleashed goes deeper once you are ready for it.

What TCGs cost long-term, honestly

This hobby is famous for eating wallets, but that is a choice, not a requirement. Two people can play the $27 starter forever. Costs climb only if you chase collections or competitive decks. Decide which player you are after ten games, not before.

If the game clicks and you want the next step, our booster breakdown and collector bundle pages cover what each purchase actually gets you, with the math shown.
